Job Summary:

Adjunct Positions are filled by semester on an as needed basis. Applicants in this applicant pool are reviewed when the department has an immediate need to fill a vacancy.  Review of applications will then stop for the semester once the vacancy has been filled.

Adjunct (part-time) faculty to teach courses in Art History and the Humanities who engage with current and emerging trends in teaching methodologies, Art History, and/or Visual Culture studies. Courses may include global art history surveys, modern and contemporary art, or Humanities subjects. Teaching assignments will be face-to-face on LCC’s downtown Lansing campus or at an extension center (within 40 miles of the downtown campus). Adjunct faculty create and deliver interactive instruction, foster inclusive learning environments, hold office hours, and work collaboratively with senior faculty to ensure alignment with official course syllabi. Additional responsibilities may include participation in course assessment, department/program meetings, professional development activities, and other duties as assigned. Must demonstrate a commitment to the diversity of a multi-cultural population, as well as work effectively in a team-based environment, seeking continuous improvement and adherence to the community college philosophy.

Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree (from a regionally accredited college or university) in Art History or closely related discipline.

Fully responsible teaching experience at the college level in Art History or Visual Culture.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s or Doctoral degree (from a regionally accredited college or university) in Art History.

Additional Master’s degree in a humanities discipline (from a regionally accredited college or university) or a Master’s degree (from a regionally accredited college or university) in a related field or a minimum of 18 semester graduate credits (or the equivalent number of quarter hours) in a Humanities discipline (Classical Studies, Humanities, Philosophy, or Religious Studies).

Fully responsible teaching experience at the college level in an additional humanities discipline (Classical Studies, Humanities, Philosophy, or Religious Studies).
